I didn’t finish writing about what we were doing yesterday. In the morning we paid $5 to go on this penguin walk. It was rather lame, but we saw one penguin on its nest. Then we walked around Victorian Oamaru. That was fun. We bought a few things. We went to the Whitestone Cheese Factory and bought some cheese there. Yummy! In the afternoon we each bought a donut for $1 and I bought a mochachinno. It was only $3, but now I know why! It was pretty nasty, and the shots were definitely burned. :)
Then we went out to the cove to watch for penguins. While we were waiting, I talked to a little boy, Dustin. He told me how he was hoping to find a red penguin. He was super cute. :) An hour later we saw 3 penguins! And this was for free! I got a really good picture of one, too, so I’m happy.
Then we went to a fish and chips place for dinner! We brought it back to our campsite to eat. Then I went on Skype. I skyped Kirsten for a while, and then Phil. Kirsten was in Greece, so it didn’t work so well. But that was special. :) And then I talked to Phil for 1.5 hrs! That was super fun. Man, I miss him now. He updated me on everyone back home. It sounds like Jude is growing into quite a young man. Oh man, I’m scared, but excited to see him when I get back! Well now we’re headed north to Geraldine and Christchurch.
-------
We stopped in Geraldine at The Crossing, the other Capernwray center in NZ. That was fun. Two girls showed us around and then I got to play their piano. That was awesome. We also looked around Geraldine and I took a video of a fancy toilet system. We also saw the World’s Largest Jersey. That was fun. :)
Then we headed to Christchurch. There was a rather large accident, on the way, so we experienced some traffic for the first time. A helicopter even came! Christchurch was sad to see. Everything was dead. We went to McDonalds for a while and just figured out what we should do next. The boys were going to Castle Rock and told us to meet them there, but we decided to just head up north instead. We are now in some random town, about 15k from Kaikoura. We’re staying at this campground, which is more like a parking lot. But it was $10 a person, so I shouldn’t complain. :) It’s right on the ocean, too, so that’s beautiful. Well I’m going to sleep now! I’ve been eating way too much food for the last two weeks. Yuck. Goodnight.
Two random incidents:
1) We had a random skater dwarf come up to our car and sing to us.
2) I talked to two Mormons to get directions from them. I told them I was from a Bible School. They thought that that was neat. :)
God is good. May I ever praise you, Jesus! Amen.
